History[]
For most of his life, John was raised by his father in this apartment. William welcomed any friend of John's who came by for a visit. After Claire had a vision of John using a mysterious ability, she rushed to William's home to share the news.[1] When the vision of the future came true, the Doe residence became a training ground. John's room was used to study potential abilities that could be utilized by Aura Manipulation, while the area outside of the building served as one of their practice spots. John became an expert at using his ability as soon as he entered New Bostin High School. Unfortunately, his increased taste for violence towards fellow students kept him away from home due to the detentions he started receiving.[2] By his second year, a war John fought against his class got him expelled from school and sent to a Readjustment Course, leaving William alone at home for three months.[3]
John promptly returned home after the Authorities released him from their custody. William waited for him at the bus stop in front of their building. John returned, too exhausted physically and mentally to recount to his father what he learned in his classes. John spent the next week cooped up in his room, haunted by the memories he was forced to relive. A concerned William came to check up on him, but John wouldn't say what was on his mind. William shared the news that he had just received sample of his latest book, Unordinary, from his publisher. He left it on John's desk, suggesting it might help him overcome his downcast feelings. John, deciding it was worth a shot, read the book. Though it did not help much with his guilt, it did inspire him to give life another shot. He left his room, and approached William and requested that they hang out. William's home soon became a place where father and son bonded. John eventually left the nest when he was accepted into Wellston Private High School.[4]
