Did you really think Spectre would treat you as an ally? You high-tiers are all the same. Unreliable. Disloyal. Arrogant. You all think you know so much better than the rest of us. That's why you need to be put on a leash and restrained.
- Terrence to Seraphina after his defeat
"Terrence" was a major antagonist in UnORDINARY. He was a spy for Spectre formerly going undercover as a second-year student of Wellston, becoming a member of its school press and later Safe House. After partaking in an assault on the Rowden field trip using a disabler on John, he himself was disabled by Seraphina, then later detained by the Authorities. During his sentence, he was being held in Lovun Prison, undergoing "sessions" with Keon. This ended when he was abruptly killed by his associate Liam.
Appearance[]
Terrence was a character with a very normal appearance compared to most others in-universe. He was a short boy with light brown coloured hair and green eyes. At school, he wore the boy's uniform with the school vest, without the jacket. In his dorm, he had been seen wearing a tan T-shirt with horizontal blue stripes and black shorts. On the Rowden field trip, he wore a tan shirt with navy blue shorts. When he was using his ability, he and his clothes were rendered invisible, though sometimes he could be faintly seen. Whether this is diegetic or just to indicate his presence to the audience is unknown.
Personality[]
At school, Terrence displayed himself as a calm, observant, and calculative student with not many standoffish qualities. He did not show much emotion even when he was being bullied by Gavin. Naturally, his solitary nature drove him to sometimes use his Invisibility to avoid conflicts. He also frequently used his ability to observe and gather information, sometimes writing it for the Wellston Weekly. According to Roland, despite using his ability often, Terrence liked to keep it a secret. Those who considered him a friend (and even his mother) learned the hard way that he was unreliable in a jam and willing to leave anyone at the mercy of an aggressive threat due to a combination of his cowardice and unempathetic nature. [1]
Stemming from his traumatic past and abuse from high-tiers, Terrence turned into an extremist with a severe hatred toward high-tiers, regardless of whether they hurt him or not. This mindset was partially due to the influence of Orrin, who took advantage of the boy's weak mental state by acting as a father figure to him so that he could recruit him into Spectre. The executive ended up manipulating him so well that Terrence remained blind to the obvious fact that his supposed "family" was only ever using him up until just before his death.
As a member of Spectre, Terrence was very mission-oriented. He was driven to achieve whatever objectives they assigned him no matter who he harmed, and he was willing to use his journalistic position to write articles that diverted attention away from his activities. He has shown unwavering loyalty towards Spectre and thinks of them as “a family he never had”, even speaking in the first person when referring to how the organization feels. He was highly manipulative and intelligent, shown when he manipulated the Safe House votes to split up the group for easy picking and lowering Seraphina's guard so Spectre could conspire against Wellston.[2] He had also been smart enough to stalk John and let his curiosity do the rest of the work so Spectre could enact their true goal - disabling John. His cunningness, connections, and lack of empathy made him one of the most dangerous people in the school.
His only displays of emotion were seen when he was with Spectre, putting on a façade or being interrogated by Keon, who forced him to relive his past. He put on a happy display when he was at the Theme Park with Seraphina to lower her guard. He was also shown to be amicable among his fellow cohorts. He had good teamwork with them, turning four of them invisible to sneak up on their victims in a coordinated effort. Contrarily, he was also shown getting angered when Keon forced him to relive his past.
His corrupted mindset had turned him into a disrespectful and sadistic narcissist who seemingly enjoyed it when his classmates, including his close friends, were endangered by Spectre. He believed high-tiers were tools for Spectre to control. He was cocky/spiteful enough to mock the god-tier Seraphina, believing she couldn't use her powers against him. He was also quite hypocritical, accusing high-tiers of knowing better than the rest of society, while simultaneously seeing them as little more than "powerful servants' that he needed to be able to control. It should also be noted he never thanked John, a supposed low-tier, for saving him from a bully a while back. His hypocrisy was perhaps shown most clearly in the fact that despite his hatred toward high-tiers, he was ironically an elite-tier himself.
History[]
The unnamed boy was the illegitimate son of a woman who was violated by a high-tier. His father was seemingly not present in the boys life and was raised by his downtrodden mother. Since he wasn't a high-tier like his father, he was unable to defend himself from bullies, causing his mother to lash out at him. Eventually, his mother died due to being overworked by high-tier employers. At her grave he met Orrin, the first man to show kindness towards the boy. From then on, he viewed him as family and joined Orrin's organization, Spectre. He joined Wellston High as a spy and took on the name "Terrence", forging his records to get in. Terrence would make a living by assisting another Spectre employee who would gauge people's levels and give prizes to high-tiers, which unknowingly contained tracking devices. Terrence would stalk them and like kidnap them.[3][4]
He enrolled as a second year, befriending Evie and Roland at some point. He joined the Press Team, making full use of his ability to move about the school unnoticed as he gathered information for his articles. Opinions of his overall journalistic skills weren't the highest, though it was likely that Terrence preferred it this way, as it made it easier for him to operate undisturbed.
Nobody at school was any the wiser about his greater mission on behalf of Spectre. He remained on standby for new assignments from his superiors and spent time between classes scouting potential recruits among the high-ranking students for the organization.[5]
Powers & Abilities[]
Invisibility: Terrence had the ability to make himself invisible to the human eye. He could also make other people disappear, provided he touched them or imbued them with his aura. He uses this ability to great effect when helping his colleague escape[6], sneaking up on others and overhearing conversations[7], or masking the presence of his allies during their fight against Safe House.[8] However, according to Cecile, Terrence wasn't particularly powerful and was surmised to be a lower mid-tier.[9] He was shown to be a 2.2 in his previous year, but it was falsified as it’s been confirmed that Terrence was 4.4.
Intelligence[]
According to the documents Isen uncovered, Terrence receives high marks in academics.[10]
When it came to scouting recruits for Spectre, Terrence was aware that the best candidates aren't always necessarily the strongest ones. He placed more importance in the willingness of others to demonstrate diligence and teamwork.[5] He was also able to trick Sera into letting her guard down when she becomes a member of Spectre alongside him.
Physical Abilities[]
Terrence was easily able to run away from the athletic John. [11]
