Spectre's Executives

Spectre is a shadow organization and a major antagonistic group in UnOrdinary. It is in organization created with good intentions but became corrupted by greed. Some of its executives are responsible for the ability loss of Seraphina and many others.[1]

Organization[]

Spectre World

Spectre's ideal world

Spectre is an organization that was created with the intention of restructuring society so it doesn't favor only the strong. It's a large company that has been operating for years and has multiple agents scattered throughout.[2]

After the discovery of the Ability Disabler, however, some of the organization's executives became corrupted with greed and wished to deviate from their original objective, which has created a divide within their ranks.[3] Part of this includes an ongoing "recruitment drive" in order to bolster the ranks of at least one faction with elite-tiers or higher. While their intentions have remained largely the same, the creation of the Ability Dampener and Disabler drove them to disable high-tiers and force them under their servitude under the belief that high-tiers would never voluntarily change, so they needed to be "kept on a leash and restrained". It is rarely in anybody's best interest to find favor in the eyes of Spectre's top brass, considering that initiation involves using the aforementioned Disabler in order to make one easier to abduct. A lost ability can be temporarily restored, but Spectre will only do so for the sake of its own agenda, forcing those who have been injected with it into forced service to the organization.

Part of the organization focuses on Ability Research. Supposedly, they are not as advanced as NXGen. Most of the workers are mid-tiers, some of which have access to ability dampeners and knives. They recently made a successful breakthrough with their project in creating the Ability Disabler. It also has spies named after the area they monitor which includes Agent Wellston[4] and Agent Rowden. They have people in various other jobs as well such as technicians, communicators and planted workers.

Spectre's tracking device

One of their known missions is to find unwitting high-tiers and plan ambushes so they can be injected and kidnapped. In order to find suitable subjects, at least one ability gauger was stationed in Kovoro Mall in order plant tracking devices on unsuspecting high tiers. Using an unassuming game booth as a front, the gauger enticed shoppers into getting their levels measured by promising prizes to high-tiers. Those who were strong enough to win a prize got a teddy bear that hid the aforementioned tracking devices.

Though this operation was eventually busted[5], there are many other rackets going underway elsewhere.

Missions[]

Description Status Outcome
Placing an Ability Gauger in a mall to plant tracking devices on high-tiers while an invisible man follows them home. Abandoned
Kidnapping Target 93 Failed
Restraining Leilah, Arlo and Seraphina Failed
  • Targets escape with the help of Kayden.
Stealing research from NXGen Successful
  • Although compromised, Seraphina successfully stole the research materials and escaped.
  • A hand-off of the research materials to another executive was later conducted.
Splitting up and possibly targeting Safe House members Successful
  • Started with their mole manipulating the votes to split up the safehouse members.
    • Blyke’s group consisting of John, Isen, Terrence, Evie, Roland and other members (Hiking).
    • Remi’s group consisting of Arlo, Elaine, Aurielle and other members (Shopping).[6]
  • Ambushing Blyke’s group up the mountains
Assasination of "Terrence" Successful
  • As a member who knows a good amount about Spectre, his failure to escape from his final mission has placed him in the worst position possible.
  • A successful assassination was ordered by Orrin and performed by Liam.
Assassination of Seraphina Failed
  • Liam was ordered by Orrin to assassinate Seraphina after completing his assassination of Terrence. [8]
  • It, fortunately, failed due to the timely intervention of Kayden and Kuyo, with the assassin being forced to withdraw after taking too much time. [9]
Kidnapping of disabled Targets Successful
  • Three unlucky targets that were disabled were likely kidnapped by Spectre agents under Orrin’s orders.
  • The three of them being the “strongest ability users” in their area are Melvin, Rein and an unnamed character.
  • Melvin, who was uncooperative was killed by the other two kidnapped individuals under the influence of Orrin’s ability. [10]

Targets[]

  • Seraphina (Target 93): Seraphina fell victim to the ability gauging plot, and she was notably the most powerful person that Spectre had ever come across. Though her forced induction into the fold was thwarted, she later signed on willingly (but not without regrets).
  • Arlo: In this case, the target was not sought out because he was wanted (at least not by Wellston), but because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He escaped, but he remains under the watchful eye of of the mole in his school.
  • Remi and Blyke: Detailed files on these two were found at one of Spectre's bases. Seraphina believes that they will be cornered by agents in Rowden.
  • John: Turned out to be the true target of the mountain ambush, with Terrence baiting John into interfering with Seraphina’s and by extension Spectre’s plans. With plans to force John to do their bidding after disabling him, although it came at the cost of losing several of their assets.
  • "Terrence": A former member whose overconfidence led to his undoing. After being captured and interrogated by the Authorities, Liam was sent out to eliminate him.
  • Rein: A strong ability user that was targeted by Orrin to be blackmailed with her ability by performing missions for Spectre.
  • Melvin: A high-tier that was kidnapped under the orders of Orrin and made an example of after being uncooperative with Orrin

Notes[]

  • During her date with Darren, Leilah claimed to work for a company called ZetaSci. Whether this is a division of/a front for Spectre, an unrelated company, or an outright fabrication concocted by Leilah is not yet known.
  • There is a superhero known as 'Spectre' who is killed by EMBER. It is unknown if this naming is a coincidence. [11]
  • A spectre is a ghostly figure. This makes sense, given how they operate in the shadows.
  • It is implied Spectre had conducted a raid on NXGen before, most likely to steal the data and equipment necessary to create the dampeners and disablers.[12]
