Seraphina's House Exterior

Seraphina's house is a modern villa that is a testament to the wealth of the family that lives within. The grand entrance is very large and has two stairways. Although the house seems very modern on the outside, it actually has a tint of old fashion to it. There is at least one servant, named Fyora, employed by Seraphina's family to serve in the residence. She delivers Seraphina's assignments from her parents. Seraphina's home was first seen in Chapter 30.

History[]

WARNING: Sections in italics indicate important plot points that are elaborated on in later arcs.
Seraphina grew up in this house alongside Leilah. They appeared to get along and spent much of their free time together. but were often covered in bandages, likely due to parental abuse. Eventually, Leilah couldn't take it anymore and left the house, without telling Seraphina. After this, the parents became increasingly strict on Seraphina. [1]

Plot[]

Suspension[]

Narisa was waiting at the top of the stairs when Seraphina entered the house and announced her arrival home. Using Time Manipulation, Narisa descended the stairs with blinding speed and slapped her daughter across the face. She belittled Seraphina for her recklessness and warned her she was on track to becoming a failure like Leilah. She ordered Seraphina to get rid of her hair extensions before she returned along with her husband to discuss Seraphina's punishment.[2]

With her parents away on business, Seraphina did little more than play video games during her first few days of suspension. She maintained contact with John, who texted her diligently. During their first real talk in some time, John was startled, yet relieved, to hear her voice after such an extended period of time. John realized that he forgot to get his homework from the teachers after leaving the infirmary that day. Seraphina told him she received the assignments via e-mail, so she could forward everything to him. Seraphina wanted to play a new pig-themed game with John, so she urged him to finish his homework quickly. Angry Pigs, as it was called, was about building a home to protect a family of happy birds from the onslaught of swinish attackers. John stubbornly tried to get through the game by building his houses with the weakest material. Seraphina suggested he do that some other time, as it was already 2 AM, to John's shock.[3]

Having been tasked to monitor Seraphina's behaviour while her parents were away on business, Fyora noticed that she lost all interest in studying. When Narisa returned home, Fyora reported that Seraphina did nothing but play games and talk to boys between meals. Deciding this wouldn't do at all, Narisa turned off the house's Wifi and confiscated her daughter's phone. Seraphina was reminded that she was supposed to be reflecting on why she was sent home in order to avoid disgracing herself like her sister did. Seraphina argued that Leilah did nothing wrong, but her mother dismissed this opinion and told Seraphina to correct herself and keep the door to her room open at all times.[4]

Project Partners[]

Cut off from all distractions, Seraphina was forced to put all her focus on her academics. It was a torturous endeavor, just as it was for her prior to meeting John. Seraphina found herself drifting off into memories of the time she broke free of the monotony of constant perfection thanks to her best friend.[5] Fyora snapped her out of this respite and informed her that in addition to the assignments she had yet to finish, Seraphina had to prepare for an interview with the NXGen Research Facility the next day regarding an internship position. Seraphina protested having to prepare on such short notice. Fyora simply remarked that Seraphina's new tendency to complain was a sign that time away from home has made her soft. She suggested that the young miss work more efficiently before taking her leave.[6] The pressure of having to work 'round the clock had begun to take its toll on Seraphina, who threw her assignments across the room one night. Fyora appeared right then and there, informing Seraphina that her application did not convince NXGen to lift their hiring freeze. The master was disappointed by this, and had sent instructions for his daughter to work harder.[7]

Monster[]

Seraphina's father assigned her more work the night before he set off on his business trip. Fyora duly delivered these assignments, and notified Seraphina of her father's impending departure. Constantly being told not to disappoint left Seraphina desperate for an escape. Her thoughts turned to John. He was always getting himself out of jams without ever using an ability. If he could do it, what was stopping her?[8]

Seraphina decides to confront her mother. Narisa, attempts to freeze Seraphina but the latter is faster. Seraphina says that she is leaving and gives her the option to let her go back to Wellston or she would run away, which would make Narisa look like a bad mother. Seraphina leaves and heads to John's House.
