The Rowden Royals are a group of teens who abuse their esteemed positions. The group comprises of:
Kree (King)
Skylar (Queen)
Ezra (Jack)
Myles (Healer)
Appearance[]
Kree has short spiky hair much like Mardin, albeit lime-green in shade. He wore a black tank top in his debut, possibly to show off his arms when his ability was active.
Skylar wore a blue tank top, possibly for more practical reasons than Kree. (Anything sporting long sleeves would be ruined by her ability).
Ezra has combed purple hair, orange eyes, and prominent eyelashes. He wore a maroon sweatshirt.
Myles has short blond hair and a scar under his left cheek. He wore a black hoodie.
The whole group opted to wear jeans of various shades, though only Kree held his up with a belt.
Personality[]
They're the town's most fearsome fighting teens.
The Rowden Royals all have overinflated egos due to their strength and connections. They see fit to spend their free time physically harassing others too weak to resist them, and demonstrate short tempers towards those who defy them. They are confident in their power, though they're perfectly willing to fight shamelessly dirty when the tide of battle turns against them.
Kree and Skylar bark the primary threats to those who oppose them, whereas Myles is content to snark at others safely behind a wall of his teammates. Ezra does most of the taunting and trash-talking for the group. Assuming he speaks on behalf of the whole team, they are all hypocrites. They're highly critical of other Royals who don't conduct themselves with dignity and pride, despite their open underhandedness and delinquency.
Their long history of being undefeated in their town has made them reckless to the point of stupidity. Not even extensive injuries will make them hesitate to take cheap shots at those who have clearly outmatched them. Myles is the only one who resorts to begging for mercy when cornered.
Season 2[]
The Royals of Rowden High School regularly visited the amusement park in their hometown. They weren't drawn in by the attractions so much as they were giddy about lording their might over everybody who went there. They enjoyed it even more when security tried to stop them. Not only were they more powerful than anybody around, but two of them had relatives who worked in the Authorities. These ties ensured that no matter how often they hurt park goers and staff, they never suffered repercussions of any sort.[1]
I was a witness, get me a reporter
They were at it again one day, casually kicking around and mocking the security guards dispatched to stop them. Dylan was present when they started getting violent, and called Blyke for help on his phone. He arrived with John just as the Royals had dispatched security. They were annoyed by the redhead boldly trying to butt in on their business. Ezra warned Blyke that talking out of turn in the presence high-rankers was hazardous to one's health. Blyke wasn't fazed, and challenged them to take him on in a real fight.[2] When the crowd that gathered spoke of their royal status, Blyke could scarcely believe it. Ezra took it as a sign that they were dealing with a total pushover, and declared that there was no taking back throwing the gauntlet down. He proposed a wager: should Blyke win a one-on-one match against them, they would leave peacefully. Should he lose...things would get even messier. Blyke was offered the chance to choose his opponent, but he spat at their offer and insisted they decide who he'd clobber. And so it was that Kree took it upon himself to teach Blyke to show respect to the Royals.
Watch as a metal man bleeds for the first time.
Confident that the fight was in the bag, Kree powered up and lunged fist-first at the tourist. But Blyke dodged and countered with a burst of energy that pushed Kree forward. The Rowden King wasn't impressed with Blyke's strategy...until more powerful energy shots were launched before he could turn around. The injured Kree was stunned that he was up against somebody who could actually fight for a change, as was the rest of his crew. Blyke's ribbing got Kree's head back in the game, and he furiously tried to return the favor by smashing the ground and creating a shockwave. Blyke dodged, but Kree had another running punch ready. Blyke used both of their abilities to turn the attack against him. He delivered a knockout elbow blow to the back of Kree's head. Ezra couldn't believe his eyes. The redhead from out-of-town was making them look bad in front of their victims. Blyke claimed victory, and told them to make good on their bet.
In it to win it with a team of four.
It was here that the Royals revealed that they didn't actually value sportsmanship. Skylar engaged Blyke while his attention was diverted. An alert from John kept Blyke from getting too badly hurt, but Myles did manage to heal Kree uninterrupted. Skylar scoffed when Blyke called foul, as he should have known they wouldn't be chased out of their own turf so easily. John gave away another sneak attack from Ezra, but the Royals still had plenty of opportunity to mess him up now that they odded the evens. Or so they thought, as not only was Blyke good at evading their attacks, he was getting sound battle advice from the loudmouth in the stupid cap. After the suggestion to subdue Myles proved useful, John told Blyke that the slow-charging, two-shot limit attack should be the next thing he focused on. Ezra was astounded at how observant the fellow in the sidelines appeared to be, and reasoned that it was due to some sort of ability that boosted his tactical faculties. He called for the others to help him shut John up before he ruined things for them all. At once, Kree and Skylar rushed towards John. They were repelled by another wave of energy from Blyke, who took his "ally" aside and berate him for just standing around. Kree took advantage of the distraction to floor Blyke with another punch. He smugly looked at John's scared face. But John's expression soon twisted into one of anger. His eyes lit up, and he used his true ability to undergo some familiar-looking transformations.[3]
Tonight I dine on turtle soup.
The Royals were woefully unprepared for what happened next. John had begun using their own abilities against them, starting with their healer's in order to patch up Blyke. He then slashed at Kree, and drew blood from his metal arm. Skylar also suffered a deep cut just beneath her chest when her next sneak attack failed. When Ezra asked who they were dealing with, Dylan formally introduced Wellston's two Kings. The warning amused Ezra, who shared his belief that recent Kings from that school were undeserving of the title. One neglectful, the next controlling, followed by an insanely violent wretch had left the hierarchy so tattered that there were somehow two Kings. Myles got up just in time to heal their wounds, but it wouldn't be enough to get them out of the hot water Ezra's insults landed them in.
Ezra knee-oh-my-a!
John surprised the group yet again by firing up Blyke's ability for his next assault. He cut the fight out of the King and Queen. When the Jack attempted to protect their Healer, John put five holes in him before kicking the guy into next week. Myles was left defenseless and terrified, and tried to appeal for mercy. John had none, and carved an "X" in his chest where a knee would go. When he stomped on the KO'd healer, Kree shouted that enough was enough. John turned to him and reminded him that no leniency in the fights you pick was their philosophy too. Kree and Skylar could only watch as John moved in for the kill.
Only a true King would be stupid enough to try this on John post-beating.
The smarting is as close to intelligence as they'll get.
Then, out of nowhere, a translucent dome came between them and certain doom. More Wellston students arrived to diffuse the conflict, and they convinced John to stand down. Instead of being thankful that the terror was leaving, Kree and Skylar felt that John turning his back to them was like a slap in the face. Kree actually saw fit to try throwing one last sucker punch. But the only thing his fist connected with was another indestructible dome, courtesy of Arlo. One king to another, Arlo advised him not to make such foolish decisions. Kree and Skylar were cuffed and led away by security, while Ezra and Myles had to be healed first. Other than immense pain and humiliation,[1] the group once again faced no punishment for what they did that day. (They even got to keep their entry passes!)[4]
Powers and Abilities[]
Radical rats.
The three fighters of the team are individually formidable. Even without using the full power of their abilities their strength surpasses all others in their hometown. When fighting as a group, they are coordinated, deadly, and nearly unbeatable thanks to Myles. Even a lower high-tier will need to have a proper battle plan just to stand a chance against the quartet.
Kree[]
Armor Suit: Kree is able to encase much of his body in a tough metallic protective shell. In addition to protecting him from injury, the armor makes his physical attacks all the more devastating.
Physical Abilities[]
Kree isn't weighed down by his armor, making him a balanced fighter who's both agile and strong. He's capable of quick bursts of speed and tremendous leaps. His reaction time leaves much to be desired though, and seasoned opponents who manage to dodge his attacks can easily counter.
Skylar[]
Demon Blade: Skylar is able to extrude an axe-like blade from each of her forearms. They cut deep and can also fend off just about anybody who manages to the close the distance on her
Physical Abilities[]
Skylar is the fastest of the four, which she make use of for hit-and-run tactics. She is quite resilient as well, managing to remain conscious despite two direct slashes from John.
Ezra[]
Shadow Flame: Ezra can create fireballs that explode on contact when he launches them.
Intelligence[]
Ezra is the smartest of the Royals, or at least is the first to notice things. He serves as the team's main strategist, meaning he'll try to attack from a distance and demoralize enemies with taunts. He soon became aware that Blyke was no pushover, and realized that John's coaching could result in their defeat. He's also well-versed in the recent history of Wellston's Royals.
Myles[]
Heal Link: Myles is kept from being utterly useless in a fight thanks to his potent healing ropes. Being able to heal multiple teammates while safely out of harm's way means that, in theory, the Rowden Royals can outlast any threat they can't quickly take down.
Weaknesses[]
The whole group is guilty of allowing their arrogance lead to their undoing. Ezra should have known better than to talk down to any King from Wellston in the first place, let alone the one who proved to be the most dangerous one of all.
Their reliance on Myles keeping them healthy in the heat of a difficult battle is easily exploitable. A savvy high-tier would know that taking him out would be the beginning of the end for the Rowden Royals.
