The Investigation Arc is the fourth story arc of unORDINARY and consists of the chapters from Chapter 18 to Chapter 28, making it the second longest story arc to date after Secrets.

It began on 22nd September 2016 and ended on 8th December 2016.

Premise Edit

The Investigation Arc deals with Arlo's growing curiosity about John and his enlisting Isen to find out more about John's past. Meanwhile, the rise of EMBER and the anti-superhero sentiment begins to wear away at John.

Summary of Events Edit

Present Edit

  • Another superhero, ArkRAYgeous, is murdered by EMBER, this time in South Wellston. [1]
  • John sees the public's unsympathetic reactions to the murder on television. [1]
  • Isen and Blyke talk about the events of the previous arc at school the next day. [1]
  • Isen cajoles Blyke into telling him about Arlo and Seraphina's fight. [1]
  • John bumps into Arlo for the first time. [1]
  • Seraphina has a flashback while playing a rhythm game on her phone on the rooftop. [2]
  • After a workout, John gets a call from his father, warning him about the recent EMBER attacks. [3]
  • Elaine notices Unordinary while leaving a glass of orange juice on Seraphina's desk. [4]
  • After looking up Unordinary and vigilantism, Elaine tells Arlo about how Seraphina has a copy of Unordinary, for fear that she will become a superhero. [4]
  • Seraphina realises that Elaine found Unordinary and tells John. [4]
  • On the rooftop of the school, John and Seraphina discuss Unordinary. [4]
  • Remi returns to Wellston and meets Blyke in the library. [5]
  • Remi reveals that she was attending Rei's funeral and that he was murdered. [5]
  • For the second time, John bumps into Arlo in the corridor, this time hitting his forehead against his jaw. [5]
  • Arlo orders Isen to investigate John's past and find out what he is hiding. [6]
  • John finds the "superhero death pool", which greatly angers him. [6]
  • Seeing Krolik beating up a weaker student, John attacks Krolik and beats him up instead. [6]
  • Tears streaming down Remi's face, she burns the death pool flyer. [6]
  • Remi visits Seraphina in her dormitory and finds a transmitter in the teddy bear she won from the Ability Gauge Vendor in Kovoro Mall. [7]
  • Isen "interviews" John. [8]
  • In the school library, Isen finds John's old class picture from New Bostin High. [9]
  • Isen excitedly tries to tell Blyke, but they end up arguing and getting kicked out of the library instead. [9]
  • Isen reports his findings to Arlo, who takes over by getting Elaine to report Seraphina to Headmaster Vaughn. [9]
  • Seraphina is summoned to Headmaster Vaughn's office, where Nadia, a government official, interrogates her. [10]
  • Seraphina manages to trick Nadia by exploiting the weaknesses of her Lie Detection ability. [10]
  • However, Seraphina is expelled for a month and she and John say their farewells at the school gate. [10]

Flashback Edit

  • Seraphina witnesses Lin and Crail try and fail to beat up John. [2]
  • The following day, Triple Chocolate Cake is served in the school cafeteria. [11]
  • Seraphina demands a slice of the cake from John and mercilessly beats him up when he drops it to the floor instead. [11]
