The Hair Gel is a cosmetic product used by John to help him hold his hairdo into a distinct helmet shape. Fans of unORDINARY love to hate on it.

Description[]

The hair gel comes in a small, blue container in the shape of a cylinder with the word "GEL" written on it. The gel is known to make hair very greasy, but it does aid in retaining hair shape. Somehow, the gel does not lose its hold whenever its owner gets sweaty, brutally beaten to a pulp, or shot at by lasers.

History[]

John spent most of his early life with wild, unkempt hair. When he was accepted into Wellston, he began to use hair gel to style his hair to match his father's.[1]

Season 1[]

John-gelling

And the fandom wept.

True Colours[]

After a few days of being used as a punching bag by the other students following Seraphina's suspension, John no longer bothered to apply his hair gel. Isen noticed the change in John's appearance, and saw it as a sign of John's true nature.[2]

Secrets[]

When Seraphina returned after her suspension had ended, John was made to move into the boys' dorm as Blyke's roommate. John once again began to apply hair gel every morning in their bathroom. This lengthy process delayed Blyke's own morning routine, much to his chagrin.[3]

Change[]

John and Seraphina became targeted by the bullies of Wellston soon after the latter's ability loss became public knowledge. They met the day after their painful encounter with Zeke. Seraphina noticed John was lacking his "helmet." He replied that the time it took to get his hair that way was no longer worth it. [4] He has not applied any hair gel since, for better or worse.

Season 2[]

After John's return to Wellston, he wears his hair in a semi-gelled state, giving him a short neat hair appearance. [5]

Bonus Episodes[]

Morning Routine[]

John applies his hair gel as usual, and finishes it off with the dangling lock of hair (That, according to Elaine, looks like the letter "L").

Petition[]

Uru-chan approaches John with a long list of signatures. She explains it's a petition for John to stop using his hair gel. He bluntly refuses, and the author is left remarking that she at least tried.
