Plot[]

Rebellion[]

While he tried to escape from a gang, they outmatched and hit him until the Wellston vigilantes and Ponytail saved him. After that, he had a chat with Ponytail and X-Rei where he stated his reason to become a vigilante, citing Untitled. He then proceed to loudly ask if he can join their team.[1]

The next day at Hilford Park, Grayson is waiting for X-Rei while Blyke and Isen are watching him from far away. When she arrived, Grayson held her hand and tried to kiss it. X-Rei moved her hand away from Grayson's lips, before politely rejecting his application to join their vigilante team. Then, Blyke and Isen showed themselves to Grayson with a threatening aura. Blyke forgot to wear his mask, which led to Grayson recognizing him as the Jack from Wellston High. He concluded that X-Rei is actually Remi and enamored by her. Isen told him to back off and rejected his application while also suggested for him to start a club instead. Grayson then decided to support and thank them for saving him by providing money, annoying the trio. After Grayson persuaded the trio with meaningful questions, the trio placed into a group huddle to discuss their plans.[2]

Uprising[]

Grayson welcomed the vigilante trio to the property owned by his parents. He boasted its many features to their envy. Remi told him to thank his parents for their generosity in lending them a place to stay. Grayson revealed that they were oblivious to this, and hoped it stayed that way. This angered Blyke and Isen, who chastised his cluelessness and potentially invited problems to his parents for using their property to hide lawbreakers. Despite his effort to reassure the duo, they remained unconvinced. Remi dragged her friends off to the side, scolded them for being too harsh on their future host. She also said that being clueless about what he did is similar to their predicament and they couldn't afford to be picky about their ally. It was their job to get the boy up to speed with the matters. After Isen assured her that Grayson had no ill intention, she agreed on his offer and welcomed him to their group. He nearly fainted from her praise, to the chagrin of her friends.[3]

During school, Grayson received an alert about his apartment being intruded on his phone. Suspicious, he decided to check it out after school hours. He arrived at his place, but found no sign of breaking and entering. Being bold, Grayson entered his apartment. Suddenly, his neck got grazed and he found himself being held hostage by an injured Kuyo. Once the latter realized Grayson is an ally, he let the boy go. Kuyo reasoned Grayson was unrecognizable outside of his vigilante outfit. Grayson would later inform Remi of Kuyo residing in their hideout.

Grayson watched on as Kuyo meditated to heal his wounds. (He inwardly complained about his sofa being bloodstained). Remi and her friends came to visit them, with Grayson being awestruck at the sight of the Queen in school uniform. Blyke asked Kuyo what happened to him to warrant such injuries. The ponytailed man explained about the failed sting Authorities had done on him. Grayson, who was oblivious to the whole thing, questioned about the identity of one such person mentioned by Kuyo on his account, Brims. After finding out from Isen that Brims was indeed an EMBER agent, he wondered aloud why they didn't report him to the Authorities. Blyke gave him a harsh reality check: EMBER and Authorities are one and the same institution. Grayson thought the vigilantes were pranking him, refused to believe such outlandish claim. Sensing he is unmoved, Kuyo showed Grayson the tapes for him to judge himself.

After watching all the recordings, a shaken Grayson had an epiphany. He realized the ones distributing the amplifiers and killing the vigilantes were also responsible for maintaining the law & order of their nation. He wondered how one could go against their own government for that matter. Blyke refused to sugarcoat and handed him an 'I told you so'. This is the reality of their hero antics. They could be arrested, or even worse, die at any moment. Grayson wanted to believe not all upholders of justice were corrupted. Surely there's some honest people fighting for the truth inside the Bureau? Remi reminded of the business card Arlo left for her. It's the contact of his boss, Kassandra. Kuyo happened to be familiar with her, a senior of him and Rei at high school. Isen wasn't swayed by his trust of his former mentor, voicing possible scenarios she might commit. But Blyke managed to convince him. It's better than them sitting ducks, waiting for Authorities to take them down one by one. They needed to give it a shot. Eventually, everyone agreed to reach out to Kassandra. But first, they needed evidences strong enough to convince her. [4]

Arc 33[]

Grayson sits in an interrogation room in the Bureau, accompanied by his attorney. Keon enters the room and says he wants to ask Grayson about Remi, Isen, and Kuyo. Keon asks about Grayson housing them for some time without his family’s knowledge, and Grayson claims he just wanted to see what the vigilante life was like…and impress Remi. He also says that Blyke & Isen were assholes, and that Kuyo nearly sliced his head off, and in hindsight feels it was obvious they were only after his money. Keon asks why he didn’t report them for conspiring against the Authorities, and Grayson said he felt pressured to go along with what they said due to their power, but later came to believe it was just a cover for them to deal drugs. Keon attempts to verify Grayson’s statements by searching his memories, but the attorney stops him with her own ability. She claims that many of her clients have interacted with mentalists and that the slightest touch from someone like Keon can cause irreversible psychological damage, refusing to allow him to continue without evidence to properly justify it. Keon responds that since Grayson has admitted to vigilantism and reading Unordinary, he can be enrolled in a correction course; Grayson frantically claims that he’s done with vigilantism for good, and his attorney reminds Keon that tens of thousands of people, if not more, have read Unordinary during its recent reemergence, not including those who read it when it was initially published, pointing out the Bureau lacks the manpower to force everyone who has ever read Unordinary enroll in such courses. Keon replies that its most influential readers will all be required to do so, and that since Grayson is one of Agwin High School’s top students, he fits this description, but offers to exempt Grayson from the course if he consents to having his mind searched. Grayson’s attorney suggests that Grayson, being only ranked 7th at Agwin High School, isn’t the Bureau’s highest priority and thus can be given some time to decide whether or not to accept this deal; Keon agrees, but as he leaves, he warns them not to take too long, or the choice will be made for them. After Keon leaves, Grayson thanks his attorney—who is revealed to be his older sister—for her help. He invites her to hang out with him, but she coldly rebuffs him. [5]
