Arlo... What happened to you?
- Elaine
This is the 366th episode of unORDINARY.
Synopsis[]
Having just been pulled into an alley by John and Seraphina, Elaine remarks that the two of them aren’t doing much to beat the terrorism allegations and asks why they’re here. Seraphina says they want to ask her some questions, but Elaine says she’s had to answer enough of them already. She explains that after they left, Headmistress Sylvia and Nadia interrogated Elaine for any knowledge of their activities. She declares that she doesn’t want anything to do with either of them anymore and that she has plans, only for John to reveal that he has swiped her phone and cancelled them, refusing to return it by holding it out of her reach. Sera asks Elaine how Arlo is doing, but Elaine accuses them of nearly killing Arlo just so they could escape, having been told that John, Remi, Blyke, and Isen jumped him while he was trying to help the other students. John emphatically refutes this and states that Arlo saved his life, unnerving Elaine, and at Sera’s prompting, Elaine explains that she hasn’t seen Arlo recently, as he was one of several students who transferred out due to the harm done to Wellston’s reputation. When Elaine asks what John meant, he reveals that when the Bureau came to arrest them, Arlo chose to stick his neck out for them and got captured along with Blyke, leaving all three of them unsure about what happened to him. Knowing they can learn nothing more, Sera bids Elaine farewell, and John returns her phone, revealing he didn’t actually cancel her plans, and asks her to give them a few minute head start if she intends to report them, and the two of them leave.
While driving back, John and Sera discuss what they’ve learned, and Sera deduces that the Authoritiesare planning to do the same thing to Arlo that they did to Blyke: isolate him to turn him against the rest of them, fearing that they may have already succeeded. She wonders how Keon may have done it, but John claims that Keon’s methods are too aggressive and unpredictable for the Bureau to use on someone that they deem valuable enough to keep around, asserting that if the Bureau was certain enough that they could win Arlo over that they went so far as to cover up his treason, it means they have someone more precise to use to turn Arlo. Solemnly, Sera points out that the next time they see Arlo, they’ll have to be careful.
In her dorm that evening, Elaine lays in bed, contemplating giving Arlo a phone call. She reminds herself of her decision not to get involved with the others anymore, but finds it hard to believe that they would engage in terrorism or drug dealing and can’t help but wonder why they Authorities really want them. Remembering her various encounters with them over the last year, she decides to call Arlo one time and waits for him to answer.
