Synopsis[]
Inside Lovun Prison, Blyke is alerted by banging on the outside of his cell door. On the other side, Remi attempts to take the door down, but isn’t strong enough on her own. Seeing the lightning, Blyke realizes Remi is there and calls out for her to get back, charging up a blast from his side. While neither of them have enough power on their own, their combined abilities are enough to break the door down, and Remi tearfully grabs Blyke in a hug. Blyke is initially relieved to see her, but Keon’s brainwashing causes him to push her away. She tells Blyke that they’re here to break him out; before he can ask who else is there, Remi grabs him by the wrist and they take off down the hall.
In the southern wing, Seraphina & Isen are on the run from a group of guards when Isen spots more about to cut them off. With 9 guards surrounding them, Seraphina tells Isen to stand his ground and goes on the attack, sending 3 guards flying with a single kick, intending for her and Isen to draw attention to themselves to make it easier for the others. Isen dodges a punch from a guard and lands a clean hit to his face, but to Isen’s surprise, the guard laughs it off and charges Isen again. One guard uses his ability to turn his voice into a sonic weapon, yelling at Sera & Isen to stand down, and both of them begin bleeding from their ears. Isen, his senses enhanced by his ability, falls to his knees in agony, but Sera quickly rewinds the damage and points at the sonic guard, surprising him. Three other guards attempt to subdue her, but she blinks past them and takes down the sonic guard with a knee to the gut.
As more guards arrive, Sera is undaunted and goes on the attack once again, but Isen is paralyzed with terror, wondering why he agreed to come to a place where everyone is an elite-tier or above, believing that he’s outmatched against so many powerful opponents and that he’s going to die. Shellshocked, Isen doesn’t notice several guards closing in on him, with Sera barely managing to get him out of the way in time. Sera tells Isen that they didn’t come all this way to quit, and orders him to get up and fight. Though breathing heavier, Isen stands up, reminding himself that nobody forced him to join the fight, and having made his choice, he steels himself to fight for Blyke. He takes down one guard and lands a hit on a second, but a third lands a direct hit on his back with an energy beam, badly injuring him. The second guard punches him down, but Sera kicks them both away before they can finish him off. As she checks to see if Isen can still move, he begins coughing up blood.
At that moment, Colt comes down the hall, ordering a group of guards to lock down the area. He spots Sera & Isen and uses his ability to trap Isen in a cage, but Sera manages to evade it. On Colt’s orders, the other guards move in, and Sera prepares to face them despite showing signs of exhaustion. Isen begs Sera to go on without him, since he’s only slowing her down, but she refuses, declaring that she won’t leave anyone behind, and takes on the other guards.
Isen knows that with Sera’s speed, she could easily escape whenever she wants, but is choosing to stay behind for him. Isen remembers the escape from Wellston, mentally apologizing to Blyke, saying that leaving him behind was his biggest regret. He resolves himself: no more running! No longer content to be the prey, the Hunter within Isen roars to life, and driven to save his best friend, he transforms into an altogether different beast; his pupils turn to slits, he grows fangs from his teeth and claws from his fingernails, and black stripes appear on his back. In a fiery burst of aura, Isen rips Colt’s cage apart, drawing eyes from friend and foe alike. His shirt shredded, his shoes destroyed, and his hair flowing wildy, Isen rises to his feet; at long last, the predator within him has awoken.
