Synopsis[]
Surrounded by Bureau officers and deprived of his senses by Sylvia’s ability, John resolves to take down as many as he can. Sensing 3 officers moving to attack him from behind, he briefly switches to Phase Shift’s offensive form for a short burst of speed, jumping into the air and blasting them into the floor, but is hit by 2 more energy beams from other officers and crashes to the floor himself. Rising one final time, he electrifies the floor to stun the officers around him. Driven by all the suffering Seraphina and his parents have endured at the Bureau’s hands and knowing he can’t hold out any longer, he charges at Sylvia, determined to take her down with him. Once again, his attack is blocked by a group of officers, and before he can react, 3 other officers each strike a critical blow to John’s stomach. Remembering Remi’s advice from their rooftop conversation, John sheds tears for his loved ones as he falls unconscious. Sylvia orders the remaining officers to take John away. Elsewhere, a badly injured Farrah regains consciousness.
With John having made a mess during his rampage, Sylvia orders the medics brought in and requests an update on the vigilante trio. Suddenly, Arlo, Remi, Blyke, and Isen appear, recovering John from the Bureau’s custody. Sylvia curses Vaughn upon realizing that Arlo has betrayed the Bureau. Isen realizes that John is bleeding out and they need to get him out quickly, while Sylvia begins to block their senses. Arlo manages to put a Barrier up to shield the group from her ability, but can feel her aura pressing firmly against his barrier and must focus all his energy into keeping their defenses up. He advises the group to slowly move towards the door behind them, but that escape route is soon blocked by a recovered Farrah. Enraged, Farrah remarks that Arlo couldn’t finish the job and may not be Bureau material after all and surprises everyone by activating her converted Flame Claw. Vowing to make the group pay for not killing her when they had the chance, she charges them from one direction while the other officers charge from the other. Remi attempts to take them down with her lightning, but Sylvia uses her ability to increase their pain resistance. Blyke is unable to hit Farrah with a trio of energy snipes, and both her and the other officers land simultaneous hits on Arlo’s Barrier, badly injuring him.
Realizing they need a quick way out, and confronted by reinforcements, Blyke blasts a hole in the wall, opening the hallway to the outside of the building. Remi and Isen, the latter still carrying John, jump down to the ground, and Remi uses her Lightning to clear the landing for the others. With Arlo locked down by the officers’ barrage of attacks, unable to move without his Barrier breaking, Blyke uses an energy pulse to blast the weaker officers back. Despite his efforts, Farrah once again evades his snipes and deals a powerful blow to Arlo’s Barrier, shattering it. Sylvia’s ability quickly overtakes them, while down on the ground, Remi yells for them to jump.
