There is only one way for everyone to live in peace.
Control.
- Goodbye Farrah, hello Fury
This is the 341st episode of unORDINARY.
Synopsis[]
Isen roams the hallways, lamenting that he has to go against his instincts to save Remi & Blyke after they decide to play hero. Knowing that they won’t get out in one piece with Fury and her officers on patrol, he wonders if he should go back for them. He soon runs into Arlo, annoyed by how comfortable he looks while the rest of them fight for their lives. When Arlo asks him if he has any news of the targets, Isen realizes Arlo doesn’t recognize him and decides not to give himself away, suggesting that they should split up to cover more ground. Arlo verbally agrees, but moves to attack, with Isen revealing his identity at the last second to call him off. When Arlo asks why he’s alone, Isen reveals that Remi and Blyke went to help John in his battle. Determined to save Remi, Arlo asks where they are, and Isen leads him in their direction.
John stands over the group of Bureau officers he has taken down, annoyed at their lack of abilities worth copying. When more officers arrive and attempt to arrest John, he immediately goes on the attack once more, brutally dispatching several of them, but is then restrained by 3 officers using energy lashes, creating an opening for other officers to land blows to his abdomen. Furious, John electrifies the energy lashes, weakening the officers wielding them, then using the lashes to throw two of them over his head and slam them down before pulling the third one towards him and dropping him with a single punch. He then attacks more of the officers, though has begun breathing heavier.
Farrah patrols the halls with 3 officers flanking her. She thinks to herself about John, noting that his ability is similar to EMBER’s conversion tech. Because of this, the Bureau ensured that the force sent on this assignment would be comprised of officers with common, non-complex abilities so that John wouldn’t be provided with abilities worth copying. Farrah correctly deduces that John has copied the vigilante trio’s abilities, which will make him difficult to deal with, but also states that as long as he can’t recover, his aura will eventually run out and he will fall. Farrah then encounters 2 more officers and orders them to join them in moving toward the East Wing, but when they address her improperly, she notices their damaged uniforms and lack of injuries and realizes they are imposters: Remi & Blyke. Using her ability to put a sleep spell on them, she orders the other officers to detain the pair, but Remi manages to shock Blyke awake and the two quickly dispatch Farrah’s fellow officers.
After a status update is broadcast on their radios, Farrah orders all resources to be diverted towards John while stating that she has the second floor of the West Wing locked down; when Arlo & Isen overhear the orders on Arlo’s radio, they realize that she has found Remi & Blyke at that location. Isen informs Arlo that Farrah is the EMBER agent known as Fury, whom Arlo remembers seeing in the video evidence. Arlo tells Isen that her ability allows her to put others to sleep, but that he was able to resist it. When Isen asks what Arlo will do when the Bureau finds out he’s been helping them, Arlo realizes that while he can get away with taking out a few officers on the side, he’ll be done for if Farrah witnesses him committing treason. Despite this, he continues towards their location. Meanwhile, Remi and Blyke prepare to battle Farrah, with the former admonishing the government operative for pretending to stand for justice after committing murder. Farrah states that the two children don’t understand that the world isn’t always black and white, asking if they would be willing to go as far as killing to help those around them, and what doing so would make them. Farrah states that they may think they’re helping the world, but that there is only one way for everyone to live in peace: control. Activating her converted ability, she declares that in order for the Bureau to maintain that control, people like them can’t be allowed to exist, and dashes towards them.
Having defeated the rest of the latest wave of officers sent at him, John takes a moment to catch his breath. John knows the Bureau has his documents and knows his weaknesses, and realizes they planned to keep him from acquiring any healing abilities. While Blyke’s passive healing can keep him going for now, Isen’s defense isn’t enough, and he’ll need to find either a recovery ability like Elaine’s Healing or a higher form of defense like Arlo’s Barrier. Rising to his feet again, he is confronted by another group of officers, one of whom is Zeke. Noticing the smugly arrogant enforcer, John decides that his Phase Shift will have to do.
