There's no time to play the long game!

- Arlo, speaking for everyone

This is the 340th episode of unORDINARY.

Synopsis[]

An explosion on the higher floors shakes the building causing unrest among Arlo's classmates. The teacher informs the students that they are to move to the main entrance according to instructions from the school. Arlo follows his classmates down the corridor and encounters Farrah as well as some officers, who Arlo recognizes the team that cleared Spectre's headquarters. Farrah introduces themselves as the Authorities, and tells the students not to leave the building. Arlo recognizes her voice and notes that he seems to have heard Farrah's voice before. The woman's instructions causes the students to object and demand that she inform them about the situation. Farrah then uses her ability to subdue the students, causing some of them to fall asleep. The remaining students, except Arlo express that they feel drowsy and she informs the students that the authorities will protect them while noting that more of the students managed to resist her ability than expected. Arlo takes notice of her strength and worries that Remi, Blyke and Isen wouldn't be able to take down the force.

In a flashback, Kassandra warns Arlo to play the long game if he wants to expose EMBER, telling him not to let anyone in the Bureau know about the secret. In the present, Arlo clenches his fist frustrately and wonders what to do.

Blyke takes down four members of the Scout Squad, who attempts to radio for help, but Remi electrocutes them all before the man finishes his sentence. Isen then delivers a blow to the head, knocking a man into his teammate. The trio then escape, and Blyke asks Isen what to do. Isen replies that they need to focus on surviving and that the squad has locked onto them. A back-up group then blocks their path, causing Remi and Blyke to respond by blasting them with her electricity combined with Blyke's energy beam. However, this is blocked by the group with five shields created with their abilities. Isen worries that the trio is moving at too slow of a pace and that if it were to continue, they'd be dogpiled on. From behind, John uses a copied version of Energy Discharge and Lightning to create the same beam that Remi and Blyke had created together, blasting through the shields. He then rushes forward, past the trio and knees a man to the face, causing Remi, Blyke and Isen to follow up his attack. As the quartet take down the group, more back-up arrives, claiming that they are under arrest, and demands they de-power.

John orders the trio to leave, and tells them he'll them off on his own. Blyke and Remi attempt to object, but are cut off as he yells at them once again. Isen grabs the two's arms and pulls them away, making their escape. John marks the squad with Hunter and blasts them away with Energy Discharge beams. After taking two men down in close combat, two other members of the squad fire beams at John, one of which lands, and he fires back with a beam of his own, telling them to die.

Downstairs, Arlo observes that the fighting had gotten more violent. Acting on his emotions to do something about it, he approaches Farrah and introduces himself, which she mentally notes that he's Valerie's nephew. She introduces herself and Arlo asks her what the situation is, and if he can help. Farrah instructs a nearby officer to get Arlo and vest and informs him that they are securing their targets, asking for his assistance in clearing the hallways. Arlo agrees and heads upstairs. As he leaves, Farrah asks a officer for a status update, which the officers on the other side inform them that their fourth target (John) had appeared, and requests backup before being cut off by screaming.

The trio get changed into the outfits of some men that they had taken down upstairs. Blyke brings up that John risks getting captured if he fights them, he'd be outting himself, and wonders how he will get out alone. Remi recalls her conversation with John on the rooftop and realizes that he has no intent of getting out. Blyke then exclaims that they have to go back and help him, which Remi nods in agreement. Isen then suggests that they leave instead without John. Remi argues that John put their life on the life for them, and Isen counters that they have to survive to make his sacrifice worth it. Blyke asks if he could live with the guilt of having left someone behind to save himself, and Remi claims that they are strong enough if they work together. Isen asserts that they have limits and that he has a bad feeling about it all. Blyke, disgusted, tells him to leave and states that he won't ditch a person who risks their life for him. Isen tries to argue back but is cut off, as Remi places her hand on his shoulder and tells him that they'll see him at Grayson's place. The two then leave the frustrated Isen behind.

Arlo dashes down the corridor, meeting a squad on the upper floor. He introduces himself as an officer as well, and asks for the targets' location. One of the men points in the direction and Arlo tells them to lead the way, before knocking them out with his Barrier by flinging them into the wall. Mentally, he apologies to Kassandra that there's 'no time to play the long game'.
