Synopsis[]
Zeke, his face bruised, enters the office of his boss Dimitri at the Bureau. Dimitri tells him off for walking in looking like that, not wanting the public to see the Bureau as punching bags. Zeke apologizes for his appearance, informing Dimitri that it’s the result of an encounter with John, a problematic individual who sent Wellston into a panic recently. Dimitri asks why Zeke would tangle with someone so dangerous, and Zeke reveals that John has been posting copies of Unordinary around school, causing it to spread amongst the students, and that he is also an informant for Spectre, which makes sense due to his friendship with another known Spectre asset, Seraphina. Dimitri thanks Zeke for this information and tells him to get healed and rest up, leaving for his next meeting. Zeke silently smirks, knowing that John will be in big trouble now. Dimitri passes this information on to Byron at his meeting, who is unsurprised of another troublemaker at Wellston. He assures Dimitri that they are already monitoring the school and Headmaster Vaughn, and that every criminal at Wellston will be handled. After Dimitri leaves, Byron pulls up information on another target: Kuyo, whose information includes his enrollment at Wellston University, his ability, and his level of 5.6. Knowing that Kuyo possesses video evidence of him being the EMBER operative Brims, Byron vows that Kuyo won’t get away with the information he’s gathered.
At school, Kuyo is thanked by another student for helping her with lecture notes before returning to his dorm. Pulling up his file of evidence against EMBER, knowing that the new video captured of Brims and Fury can be used against EMBER, at least as a start. Recalling Rei’s last words to him, he smiles to himself before hearing a knock on his door. Closing the laptop, he answers the door and is greeted by two officers who inform him he is under arrest for practicing vigilantism. Kuyo denies it, but Byron reveals himself and urges him to come with them. Recognizing him as Brims, Kuyo realizes that if he goes with them, he’ll be killed. Byron uses his ability to spawn numerous vines to restrain Kuyo that his katanas cannot cut through, and the other officers land hits on him as well, injuring him. Knowing that the evidence on his computer is their only hope of exposing EMBER, Kuyo resolves not to let their efforts go to waste. Byron orders the officers to kill Kuyo, but Kuyo fuses his two katanas into a much larger sword, cutting off Arnold's arm and nearly cutting the other in half before grabbing the laptop and jumping out the window. Byron attempts to catch him with more vines, but Kuyo slices through them, landing on the ground; despite being wounded, he manages to escape. Byron is surprised that Kuyo was able to overcome the three of them, realizing that he’s much stronger than his records indicate and wondering when he gained so much power.
