Synopsis[]
Seraphina breaks through Valerie's ability, to Arlo and Valerie's shock. With her ability, she is easily able to take down the crowd of people and also punch Valerie, sparing only Arlo. Valerie fortifies her ability on Seraphina, to Arlo's panic. He shouts to Valerie to stop. Valerie is suddenly punched by Leilah, who shows up out of the blue. Her break in concentration causes Seraphina to be able to escape from Valerie's enforced barrier. Valerie coughs up blood, and Arlo supports her. Seraphina is also covered in wounds all over her body, but she reverses them with her ability.
Leilah tells Seraphina to get out, and just before they escape, Seraphina tells Arlo that here on out, they will be enemies. Arlo wants to protest, but stops himself. The paramedics arrive to treat the injured people at the scene.
Valerie comments that Arlo seems relieved that she got away. He asks why she deceived him, and she says that he wouldn't have called Seraphina if she had been honest. Valerie claims that she pinned the idea on Arlo because she was trying to save him from the Bureau, who knew that he had tipped off Seraphina to enable her to escape. She says that the Bureau knows everything, and that he could have easily been jailed for his actions.
Arlo tries to defend Seraphina, which makes his aunt slap him and tell him to wake up. Valerie tells Arlo that he had worked hard to be part of the most elite group in the world, but that he was losing his head for his high school classmates. She asks what they have done for him for him to be wiling to sacrifice so much for them, to take control of his own life, and stop letting outsiders cloud his judgment. Valerie then walks away, leaving Arlo to think.
