My dad wrote Unordinary.
- John
This is the 320th episode of unORDINARY.
Synopsis[]
John walks across campus and overhears other students discussing the book Untitled. At the dorms, Remi, Blyke, and Isen are discussing what to do about Grayson. Isen says they shouldn’t contact him, as he’s not strong enough to help them as a vigilante and will only slow them down, but Remi feels he deserves a straight answer. John arrives as the trio is leaving to grab drinks; Blyke invites him to join them, but John declines, planning to go for a run. However, after overhearing Remi mention that Unordinary has resurfaced as Untitled, he asks about it, and Remi says it was recently leaked online. John asks them to show him, and upon seeing it for himself, he worriedly steps out into the hallway and calls his father, getting more concerned when the call goes to voicemail.
The trio follow John into the hallway and Blyke asks if something is wrong, reminding John that they should watch each other’s backs. John reveals to the trio that his father is the author of Unordinary, shocking them all. John states that the Authorities let him off with a warning when the book first came out, and the trio thinks about how surprising it is that they didn’t just kill him, considering how brutal EMBER is. John wanted to check to make sure he was okay after the leak, and Remi asks if he knows anyone back in New Bostin who could check on him in person. John texts Adrion, but when Adrion gets to William’s home, he gets no answer when he knocks at the door and sees nobody inside through the front window. Adrion agrees to check back in a few days and let John know what happens.
At the Bureau, Valerie is reviewing Seraphina’s case file. Knowing that Seraphina is the one responsible for infiltrating NXGen’s facility in Arcwood and stealing research about conversion tech, which has allowed Spectre operatives to use multiple abilities, she also reflects on Seraphina leaving Wellston just before Byron went to arrest her. Wondering how she managed to relay her information to Kassandra, she recalls Arlo asking her recently if the Bureau’s punishments are too harsh, and realizes that he not only channelled Seraphina’s information to Kassandra, but tipped Seraphina off about her pending arrest. Disappointed in Arlo, she wonders what her nephew is thinking and where his loyalties lie. She summons Arlo to her office and after he confirms his injuries from his recent battle with Spectre are healed, she tellingly asks Arlo how Seraphina, who’s been on the run for a while, could’ve been reached by Kassandra, and if it was through him. Arlo admits that Seraphina reached out to him, and that she was disabled and forced into Spectre’s ranks and wants to take down Spectre just as much as the Authorities do. Valerie understands why Seraphina would be upset after being reduced from a level 8.0 to a cripple, and asks Arlo to contact Seraphina to arrange a deal to be brokered in person. Arlo gladly agrees to reach out to her and promises to inform Valerie as soon as it’s done; Valerie smiles as Arlo leaves, but once the door closes gets a stern look on her face and thinks “Don’t fail me, Arlo.”
