Final stand, get ready!

Synopsis[]
Kassandra starts questioning Rein as to why she's suddenly turned on them. Arlo tells her to save it, for it's not Rein they're beholding. He introduces his superior to Orrin, the man in charge. Arlo recalls John warning him that the Spectre Executive possesses the power to control others, but he never expected they'd be used as mouthpieces as well. Kassandra sees a bright spot in this development: taking the proximity needed for this level of control into consideration, then Orrin must be in the building! Unable to afford letting him get away, Kassandra opts to try sending a message. She covers Arlo's Barrier with her Particles, which Orrin presumes is a futile attempt to hide. Under her makeshift cover, she texts the Bureau and spares a few specks to airlift her phone out of the small opening they made before getting cornered. Arlo worries that it's all in vain, but Kassandra assures him that they'll get out of this fix once she gets the device in range of a signal. For now, they'll just keep their enemies at bay. She constructs great blades with her ability and launches them, but her three targets manage to avoid the worst of it before initiating a counterattack.
Even with Kassandra's help fortifying the dome, Arlo begins to feel the damage. Kassandra calls out to Liam and Candice, telling them that she could help them escape their life of service to Orrin. Said master tells her she's wasting her breath. The offer that persuaded Rein was familiar to the deadly duo, and they learned to mistrust it long ago. The Barrier is penetrated in short order, and Arlo collapses. He chokes on his own blood, regretting that fighting at half-strength wouldn't be enough to save anybody. Kassandra realizes that he's in no shape to stand, let alone evade the enormous spider leg being thrust at him. So she steps in between and takes the attack. Arlo asks what the hell she's doing, and she responds that she's just paying him back for taking the brunt all this time. Arlo exclaims that she isn't suited for such a strategy, but she ignores him. She would do whatever it took to hold out. She forms large fists, but Liam effortlessly erects a shield of ice to block the ensuing punches while Orrin uses Rein to stab Kass some more. Arlo barely has a moment to register the horror before he's seized by another leg pierced in his shoulder.
Orrin congratulates them for lasting this long before gloating that their abilities would soon become Spectre's. Even wounded, Kassandra realizes how odd his choice of words is. As Orrin claims victory, Arlo chooses to use the last of his willpower to fight fate. To his surprise, he stops the deadly spider leg that tried to finish him off. He alerts Kassandra to the elapsed time of the dampener, and she quickly forces Orrin's unfortunate puppet off of them with a big particle hand. Rein's body is slammed into a wall, but the two officers of the Authorities aren't quick to recover from the injuries they sustained. Candice doubles down and activates Spectral Claw to use in conjunction with her own Duplication ability. With Liam as backup, they renew their efforts to kill their quarry. Arlo has enough strength to erect Barriers once again, only this time they have their trusty reflective properties. Candice's clones disintegrate just second after they strike, leaving her with a bleeding purple arm. Kassandra conjures lances, but it's a strain that barely makes any difference. If things weren't bad enough, more Spectre agents arrive to back up their commrades. Kassandra can scarcely believe that Orrin managed to round up so many high-tiers, but Arlo knows it's what he specializes in. Forcing Rein to stand up, Orrin furiously declares that playtime is over, and orders his team to kill the intruders. With several high-tier abilities baring down on them, the officers prepare to make their final stand.
Suddenly, an explosion rips open a wide hole in the steel enclosure surrounding the building. Arlo and Kassandra find themselves shielded by a great wall of crystals. Valerie and a battalion of some of the Authorities' finest arrive to mop up.
