Synopsis[]
Kassandra's plea reminds Rein of the deed she done and Orrin's threat against her. He blackmailed her and the other perpetrator into working for him, in exchange for their abilities to be returned. Rein contemplates on getting rid of Kassandra and Arlo, but realizes that would mean enslaving herself to Orrin. She asks Kassandra whether the investigator will keep up her part of the deal. Arlo supplies the answer, relating her struggle to a friend of his. Unfortunately, Rein is not interested in talking to him at all, while also wondering how someone like him managed to work for Authorities.
Kassandra backs her junior, stating their mission is to liberate every high-tiers 'employed' by Spectre and dissolve the very organization that imprisoned said high-tiers. When Rein questions on what would happen to her ability afterwards, Kassandra assures her that the Bureau will use their connection with the top researchers in the world to develop a cure for her situation, using the disabler taken earlier. Rein also asks about the crimes she had committed, with Kassandra promising to find a way to grant her pardon. Left with no other choice, Rein agrees to help them escape the facility.
Meanwhile, the handler discovers that neither the surveillance team nor Rein answer to her call, and slams the phone in anger.
With little to no knowledge of the building's layout, Kassandra and Arlo rely on Rein to guide them out of there. The latter suggests for them to hide, since there's only twenty minutes left for the dampener to wear off. Their trek were cut short by the response team, who arrive to take down the intruders. The trio defeat them easily, but this forces a change of plan; Rein will destroy the rolling doors by the entrance instead. Kassandra provides assistance, and their combined effort managed to poke a hole on the rolling door.
Their joy didn't last for long, as numerous icicles suddenly rain on them. Arlo shields Kassandra and Rein from those, before finding out the culprit of the attack are the duo that John warned him about: Rein's coworkers Liam and Candice. The latter lashes out at Rein for her betrayal, with the Queen of Agwin firing back for being held against her will. Before her spider-limb reaches Liam, Orrin takes over her body. He turns the tide against Kassandra and Arlo, who are bracing for a battle.
