- Leilah proposes inviting John over
This is the 309th episode of unORDINARY.
Synopsis[]
The broadcast of the Bureau's bulletin to report all information relating to Spectre continues to air. Seraphina can only watch for so long before turning off the TV at her sanctuary. Truly, it's become impossible to even catch her breath. She asks Leilah how much longer they have to impose on Darren, worried that he'll get in big trouble if he's discovered hiding them at his place. Leilah answers that thanks to Orrin, Spectre resources are no longer available to her in Wellston. They had no choice but to wait for Neil to extract them. Seraphina grumbles that she won't be able to see any of her friends from Wellston High. Leilah apologizes for basically uprooting her from the life she knew. Seraphina says that it was such a short good-bye. Leilah guesses that she's talking about the one she gave to John, recalling how after his only concern upon waking up after the attempt on their lives was staying next to her until she did the same. The story brings Seraphina a bit of comfort. Leilah thinks back to Seraphina's first treatment with the recovery machine. She was told that there was an important person that needed help, and wondered John was the friend in question. Seraphina explains that he worked hard to develop a healthier way of living, and worries that it'll be jeopardized if he interprets her sudden departure as abandonment. The concept reminds Leilah about how she put Seraphina in the same situation the night she decided she had had enough of their abusive parents. It wouldn't be right to allow her sister to be guilty of the same disservice to someone close to her. So she proposes that they invite John over to Darren's apartment so that Seraphina can give him a fond farewell, complete with fair reasoning. Seraphina can't express any gratitude before the door slam catches their attention. Darren stands at the entrance, and out of nowhere says he needs John's blood for an idea he has.
At Wellston University, Kuyo and Kayden have a serious discussion in their dorm room. Kayden is now fully aware that his roommate is a vigilante who chases after and fights agents of EMBER in the dead of night. He still isn't cool with being hounded over his Spectre job, but at least it's not a member of the Authorities after him. Speaking of, Kuyo wants to know a little bit more about that. Kayden tries to play it cool, but Kuyo is clued in to the basics. He brings up the broadcast about the Authorities publicly declaring Spectre public enemy number one, and asks if the ability-loss of his "cousins" might tie into the whole thing. Not to mention Kayden knowing that "Iceman" was a killer on sight. Hesitantly, Kayden asks how Kuyo figured out so much. He answers that those two kids coincidentally attending the same school as his cousins helped. Frustrated with his sleuth roomie, Kayden asks if he intends to report him to the Authorities. Being a vigilante, Kuyo responds that it isn't in his best interest. Especially not with the dirty little top secret he managed to learn. The two then come to realize that they're on the same page about EMBER being run by the Authorities, so Kuyo asks Kayden to explain how he's any better working for an organization that disables, kidnaps, and kills. Kayden defends himself by saying that Spectre's only purpose is to bring balance to the world, a sentiment a vigilante should understand. The criminal element all stems from a single executive who isn't satisfied with everyone becoming equals. As Kayden describes how Orrin turned against them all, he silently hoped that his ambitions would be checked in light of the bad press. Kuyo observes that their illegal acitivites were a shared secret at last. Kayden is startled when his phone suddenly rings. He goes to answer it in private.
At Hilford Park, Kayden's waiting comes to an end when John finally shows up. John asks why he had to rush over. Kayden replies that Darren wantas to see him at once. John's elation at the prospect of seeing Seraphina again is marred by Kayden's exact words. Annoyed by the constant escort demands, Kayden assures it's no prank and grabs John before teleporting them to the apartment.
