IS THERE ANYONE FROM WELLSTON WHO DOESN’T HAVE A DEATH WISH?

- Darren

This is the 304th episode of unORDINARY.

Synopsis[]

Upon materializing in Lovun, Kayden stumbles upon a gruesome sight. There are the three teenagers who stopped by the university earlier. But they were no longer in the good health he last saw them in. They were all bleeding, and only one of them is well enough to commend his timely arrival. The other two look like they’re close to dying. Kuyo is there waiting alongside them, and wearing strange outfit that included a mask. Kayden can’t get an explanation, as Kuyo wants him to take them all to the miracle chemist he raved about. Kayden informs him that he’s only got the energy to teleport two others. Isen says to take his friends in that case. Kuyo asks what he’s going to do about his wounds. He replies that he’ll figure something out. Before departing, Kayden casts Kuyo a knowing look and says he's getting an explanation later. Kuyo promises to have one. With that settled, Kayden is gone. Now alone with each other, Isen asks if Kuyo’s recordings were lost. Kuyo coyly replies that it’s not the first time he’s lost a phone on patrol.

At her new home away from home, Seraphina is getting ready to turn in for the night. But the drowsiness is dispelled when Kayden pops in asking for help for his two passengers.

Darren and Leilah are sleeping together. The romance is disrupted when Seraphina loudly calls them to get up. Darren is furious that Seraphina isn’t in bed yet, but she insists it’s important. She points Darren towards two (unfortunately) familiar students in need of his healing touch. With his sanity taking another blow, Darren raves that Wellston does nothing but churn out suicidally foolish kids. A weary Leilah advises him to calmly ready his supplies while she stabilizes the patients with her ability. As they get to work and Kayden sleeps off his arduous ability-use, Seraphina notices that Remi has a parcel on her. She lifts it off her out of curiosity.

The next morning, Blyke wakes up out of sorts. He can’t recall how he ended up in an unfamiliar bed with…REMI!!! Now trying his hardest to recall what inappropriate series of events got him to this point, he finally remembers when he sees the bandages on Remi. Their super-heroics once again ended in disaster. As he wonders whether to turn her over on her unscathed side, Remi suffers from persistent nightmarish memories; Fury throwing her friends off of the roof, Blyke helpless to save himself. The horror of it all stirs her awake, screaming and electrified. Now it’s her turn to be unsure of her current circumstances, knowing only she’s in immense pain. As soon as the shock of Blyke’s presence wears off, Remi embraces him. She’s relieved that he survived.

Now that they’re both up, the next order of business is to figure out where they’ve ended up. Blyke opts to get up and explore. He reaches the door, only for it to swing open and hit him. They’re surprised to see Seraphina enter with food. She gets the duo up to speed, shocking them with the news that they’re at Darren’s place. (They were sure he’d never have anything to do with them ever again). Seraphina explains that he and her sister are a couple who are best left to work undisturbed. Interesting as that may be, what Remi really wants to know is why Seraphina is doing there instead of school. She explains that the Authorities discovered her work with Spectre, and that she had to leave before they arrested her. For their sake, she urges them not to divulge these details to anyone.

In turn, she asks how the two of them managed to get Kayden to offer his getaway services. Remi reasons that somebody else must have contacted him while they were incapacitated. Seraphina guesses that EMBER would have done worse to them if not for an emergency call courtesy of a vigilante friend. Blyke chafes at the memories of the previous night. If he wasn’t so cocksure of their victory upon the apprehension of Brims, he might have been better prepared to deal with the second killer. Remi says if anyone’s to blame, it’s her. She just couldn’t help but jump in after watching the ability her brother nobly wielded being used to kill. Her outrage cost them the mission, but Blyke remarks that he’s happy they’re not dead.

Seraphina states that EMBER managed to convert Lightning at long last, prompting Remi and Blyke to ask what she’s talking about. She reminds them of the conversion project they recently discussed. It’s clear that vigilantes are the source of the new abilities of the Authorities' high-tier operatives. Blyke brings up how the expert dual-wielding of different abilities he saw was reminiscent of John and his Aura Manipulation. Seraphina tells him that she doesn’t believe the similarity to be a coincidence. She reveals that Conversion Technology is made possible by a woman named Jane. And their exchange confirms a theory of hers: Jane is John’s mother.
