You're not getting away that easily.
- Liam
Synopsis[]
John vividly recalls his last encounter with the male agent and is eager to take him out. However, he remembers important details Kayden told him beforehand, in case of a trap set by Orrin: To leave the bulk of the fighting to Seraphina, and to save up his own energy so they can pool their strength to teleport the bulky recovery machine. But even with the mission back on the forefront of his mind, John swiftly realizes something's wrong. He can feel that his ability wasn't restored in full. With the ice ability already using up a slot, he'd only have enough aura for one more ability. He tells Kayden to go for it, and he samples the Teleportation aura. He now has to wait for his would-be killers to let their guard down long enough for him to take action. Liam makes it clear that he won't stop until he finishes the job he started back in that alley. John is forced to use precious aura to evade and attempt to counter his enemy's ice attack. He fails when Liam defensively turns to water, just like last time.
Meanwhile, Candice stands up only to be pushed back down by Seraphina. The female agent is angered by the audacity of an outsider trying to call the shots on her turf. Seraphina dodges Candice's attack, and is surprised that not only can the agent use monster claws, but so can her duplicate bodies!
John's use of teleportation takes a lot more out of him than he anticipated. He realizes that the ice guy has the clear advantage of being able to turn into water and make denser ice. All the same, John presses on, hoping to lock down the b*stard somehow. John launches ice shards, then rushes at Liam while he's in the middle of letting the attack splash though him. John freezes him while he's still water. The success of the strategy is short-lived, as Liam easily breaks free of the half-strength iceberg.
Kayden realizes something is wrong as he watches the protracted battles. He figures that the restoration process was sabotaged. He looks around for something to aid the teens with, and catches sight of some electrical wires.
Seraphina blitzes the female agent's duplicates before grabbing hold of the original. Candice seizes her, but Seraphina wasn't planning on going anywhere. She throws punch after punch hoping to wear down the aura of the giant claw, unaware that she's fallen into a trap. Candice's duplicates have recovered and both seize Seraphina with their claws and begin to squeeze the life out of her. This temporarily distracts John, giving Liam ample time to freeze him in place. John tries to teleport out of his bonds, but Liam's own Shadow Claw clutches his head and keeps him from escaping. The man stabs the youth with an ice blade as the start of a slow and painful death! Fortunately, Kayden electrocutes Liam with the freshly-exposed wires and rams a cart into John's ice prison. John isn't given time to recover from his stab wound. Kayden alerts him to Sera's predicament. At the sight of her being crushed to death, John focuses all his strength into attacking every Candice in sight. His ice wave hits all of them, and the clones disintegrate along with their claws. With Seraphina free, Kayden grabs her and shouts to John they need to flee from this losing fight. He promptly teleports himself and Seraphina out of the lab.
Left alone, John laments the fact that not only they failed to steal the machine, but their abilities were only partially restored. Incensed at this turn of events, John refuses to leave empty-handed.
