- Arlo blows off Remi for good

This is the 281st episode of unORDINARY.

Synopsis[]

While watching Blyke and Isen have a less-than friendly game of soccer, Kuyo talks to Remi a bit more. He learns about how after she grew fed up with the Authorities ignoring the crime against her family, she sought answers herself as a vigilante. She adds that it wasn't surprising to learn that they had been running EMBER from the start. Kuyo remarks that her findings make a lot of sense. Remi explains that it was just a nagging feeling at the start, but it led to her encountering Volcan. Then with help from Arlo, she met Valerie of the Authorities, which tied it all together for her. Making matters worse is the fact that that woman had unmasked Remi, so she recognized her that day. Kuyo asks if Arlo knew that his aunt was the woman who tried to end all their lives. Remi replies that she hasn't figured out a way to break it the news that the woman he admires is a monster. Kuyo tells her that they've got their work cut out for them, which she can't deny.

On a subsequent school day, Arlo monitors the Safe House until Remi arrives. When she does, he scolds her for showing up late. She tells him that she had papers to help with, then asks if he has the free time to grab a drink with her after school. Arlo brings her outside in order to discuss the matter of future plans.

Remi learns that can't make it today or the day after. Arlo informs her that he's going to start putting in hours with the Authorities. Remi is absolutely appalled, and asks how Arlo could even consider that after discovering what they did to Rei. In response, Arlo asks if Remi should consider moving on from the tragedy by now. It's what he was going to do, in favor of pursuing his lifelong goal. Remi can't fathom how Arlo could repay Rei's kindness to him by siding with his killers. Before he could walk away, Remi announces that her brother's life was personally taken by his aunt.

Arlo freezes, and threateningly asks Remi to elaborate. Upon hearing her say Valerie is in league with EMBER, Arlo snaps. He condemns the accusation as baseless, and it, like everything else she tries, won't bring Rei back. Remi fires back that he's given up prematurely, but he does not see any merit in the opinions of an emotionally compromised little sister. Remi is unable to get through to him with the details she and Kuyo went over. Arlo's last word is that she can wallow in her sadness all she wants, but he'll have no part in it. He then storms off.
