- Blyke

This is the 279th episode of unORDINARY.

Synopsis[]

As Blyke freaks out about the surprise appearance of his guardian angel, his shock increases as he watches Remi run up to him. They clearly knew each other well enough to catch up on old times. Isen steps in and asks for an introduction. Remi formally gets her friends acquainted with Kuyo, who roomed with Rei during their shared high school days. Isen gave a lukewarm introduction in response. Kuyo soon turns his attention to Blyke, who remains unnerved by the presence of the guy who saved his life like it was no big deal. As if things weren't tense enough, the incognito vigilante unexpectedly calls Blyke by name and flashes an incredibly creepy smile. Remi asks how they came to know each other (a question Blyke would like answered too). Kuyo only answers that it was a chance encounter. Blyke demands to know why Kuyo showed up out of the blue. He explains that he came to Wellston High in order to speak with him in private. Blyke doesn't get the chance to refuse, as Kuyo takes him aside and bids adieu to the others. As they depart arguing, Isen remarks on the strangeness of the meeting. Remi agrees. She hadn't seen Kuyo in months, but he suddenly shows up at school looking for Blyke? She wants to know what they're talking about. Isen suggests they tail them and find out for themselves.

At Hilford Park, Isen finds a tree so that Remi can spy on her friends with him. The unaware Blyke wants to know the meaning of Kuyo's unannounced comeback into his life. Kuyo asks if Blyke is familiar with John and Seraphina. The inquiry irritates Blyke, but Kuyo is completely serious. Blykes answers that one's a friend, the other's his roommate, and follows up by asking why Kuyo's interested. Kuyo shocks him by revealing that those two almost lost their lives to a cold-blooded killer. Two certain spies are also horrified by this revelation. Isen asks Remi if this is what Seraphina meant by "they were fine". The concerned Remi assumes that she wasn't allowed to share the details. But Kuyo's questions don't stop there. He's learned that Seraphina and John shouldn't have been in any danger with their combined listed power levels. Blyke asks how he's privy to these events. Kuyo reveals that he's the one who rescued them. Blyke is then told that it's more than likely that the attack was part of the wave of incidents where people went missing. It made perfect sense. Without their abilities, Spectre would have certainly made their next move against those two. But shifting from recruitment to murder? Blyke couldn't see the logic behind that.

His silent pondering interests Kuyo, and Blyke's asked to share his thoughts. Kuyo says he'll need to if they have any hope of uncovering the whole plot and stopping it. Though concerned, Blyke maintains his earlier stance that his superhero days are behind him. Kuyo urges him to change his mind. Their actions put them on permanent radar. Their best hope of survival was by working together. Kuyo even tries sweetening the deal by offering to do the more dangerous stuff while Blyke works behind the scenes.

Back by the tree, Isen and Remi listen intently. The former puts together that they met each other while crimefighting. Isen also gets to thinking: doesn't it make sense for the guy Rei went to high school with to team up with him as a vigilante around the same time? This line of reasoning gets Remi anxious to find out for herself. She steps out from behind the tree, and confronts Kuyo. Both he and Blyke are surprised, but Remi wastes no time. She asks Kuyo if he witnessed Rei's death at the hands of Volcan, much to his shock.
