It'll be a long time before we find someone as competent and as well-connected as she is.
- Leilah vouches for Asset 47
This is the 270th episode of unORDINARY.
Synopsis[]
Another Spectre conference with the executives is underway. Orrin would like to know why Leilah arranged it. She replies that it's about Asset 47 (better known as Seraphina). Orrin wonders if they should spend this time discussing how to punish their new recruit's unsanctioned actions leading to the failure of the project in Rowden. Leilah responds that the project itself was unsanctioned to begin with, as per usual Orrin set it up without telling his fellow executives. If anybody's to blame for the loss of valuable resources and manpower, it's him. Especially now that his own best agent is now in the hands of the Authorities, who were sure to interrogate him for sensitive information. Orrin speaks calmly that there's no need to fret over the circumstances, as he's prepared for such eventualities. Leilah warns him to kick his habit of risking the exposure of Spectre for his own personal gain. The reprocusions of how he handled matters at Lovun Cafe are still felt throughout the organization. With an air of arrogance, Orrin retorts that if it weren't for him and his risk-taking, Spectre wouldn't have gotten as powerful as it is today.
Executive #2 stifles this argument to get back to the matter at hand. Regardless of Orrin's machinations, Asset 47's blatant attack on her own team would not be ignored. Leilah defended her sister, saying that her prerequisite of her classmates' guaranteed safety was disregarded first. Until she realized Orrin violated that agreement, she was compliant and successful in her endeavors. As far as members go, Asset 47 had no equal. Executive #3 agrees, and inquires of her present condition. Leilah admits that she's in no mood to do Spectre any further services. It would take some doing, but she might be able to convince her to come back into the fold. All Leilah needs is the go-ahead from the higher ups. When asked for her plan, she says that the executives should arrange a meeting with their estranged Asset 47 so they could all hash out an agreement.
At the Wellston Boys Dormitories, John listens as William makes suggestions on perking up his dull room. John sees no need to decorate an abode he hardly spends time in, and asks his father if he'll be staying much longer. William says that he's heading out come morning to resume his busy schedule. After all, John is okay, so all that's left to do is to bestow a small gift. A while back, John asked him for another copy of Unordinary. The problem was, William's entire stock was confiscated. So he sat down and rewrote all that he could from memory. The manuscript may not have been a perfect replica, but William hopes John appreciates it. Touched by the thought, John begins to say how William shouldn't have gone through the trouble. But a loud knock from his bedroom door interrupts him. Seraphina has come to see if what she's heard is true. Indeed, the loveable William H. Doe is back in town, and John should be ashamed of himself for not telling her beforehand. John explains that it was so sudden, and that his dad leaves the next day. Seraphina decides that she'll spend the rest of that time showing William around if he didn't have anything else planned. William takes her up on that offer, and asks her to show her that Safe House he's heard about.
William is blown away by the setup in Room 224. Seraphina explains their club's system, which impresses William even more. John solemnly notes that it truly is a wonderful setting, and that he may never get used to being welcome despite trying to destroy it. William says that he shouldn't waste any time in trying to make the best of the good terms he's on with the club. He could ask Remi or Blyke how he could help out around the place. John doubts he could improve the club that developed just fine without him around, but William says that such a glum outlook is ridiculous coming from the likes of him. Seraphina suspects that William's unbridled confidence in John is a sign that he remains in the dark about the ability-loss situation. Putting that aside, she chimes in with an idea. She asks John if he recalls Dylan wanting to learn how to fight. His contribution to the Safe House could be as the club's fighting instructor. John is unsure, as are Seraphina and William on the subject of his desire to be helpful. Seraphina presses the issue, sharing the story of how he taught her to fight some time ago. She believes that as John's own instructor, there's plenty William could pass on to the her. William thinks it's a capital idea, and asks to be escorted to the nearest gym.
Upon arriving, Seraphina demonstrates a few of her moves as a warm-up while waiting for William to get ready. John calls his father, who tosses hims a pair of fighting gloves. William believes that there's no better way to start this learning experience than to have a friendly exhibition match with his son. The hesitant John accepts the challenge.
