John, I'll allow you one chance.

- Remi

This is the 240th chapter of unORDINARY.

Synopsis[]

Blyke doesn't take John's nightly intrusion well. He berates John for asking for his help after all the damage he had done to the school, the Safe House and the royals. John tries to explain his abysmal mental state during his tenure as King, but Blyke is not moved. Blyke spells out, in no uncertain terms, that he would much rather ensure John's permanent exclusion from the club than give him the opportunity Remi offered. With his point made, Blyke slams the door on John's face. John is once more forced to wrestle with the reality that he'll need to get acquainted with Safe House unaided.

In the Safe House, Isen bawls about his new position of responsibility, to the other students' and Remi's mild amusement. Suddenly John enters the Safe House. All the students cower in fear, but John states that he isn't looking for a fight, but to integrate with the Safe House. Remi allows John to stay, albeit grudgingly and despite the protests of everybody else. She reminds them that all agreed to offer a chance to all those who sought forgiveness. But it is John, and she warns him that she'll be keeping a watchful eye on him. She promises to eject him from the room at the first sign of aggression. John responds by wordlessly taking a seat at an empty desk, heedless of the tense atmosphere.

Seraphina patrols the schools until she her phone alerts her to an incoming message. It's from Isen, who texted John has entered the Safe House and is making everybody uncomfortable. Fearing the worst, Seraphina rushes over to the Safe House to see the entire room on edge at the sight of...John placidly going about his work. She drags John out and tells him that he cannot integrate with the Safe House merely by sitting with them, as that would only scare them more. Further, she questions his motives. John expresses his concern for Seraphina's current state, and says that integrating with the Safe House might help him get to the bottom of her problems, since she cannot deign to reveal them to him. As John leaves, Seraphina vows to never let John become involved with her troubles.
