- Remi, falsely raising the fandom's shipping hopes

This is the 202nd chapter of unORDINARY.

Summary[]

Remi, Blyke, and Isen meet up at their favorite fast food joint, toasting the successful opening day of the Safe House. But they solemnly know that there won't be an end to opposition from the likes of Zeke. Remi just hopes that the current members like it there. But even if it takes hard work, she's certain that the club will thrive as soon as there's a good foundation.

A news bulletin diverts the Trio's attention. It concerned a double vigilante sighting in Grasshill, one dubbed "Nobody" while the other remained unknown. It was the first superhero debuts seen in a while since EMBER began to kill their kind. Isen couldn't believe any self-respecting vigilante would willingly choose "Nobody" as a codename. Blyke also thought it was lame, which made the next segment of the news bulletin very awkward. Blyke watched in horror as the report showed images of Ponytail and himself fighting Lennon. Things got worse when one of the leader of the Grasshill Protectors gave an eyewitness account of the younger vigilante. Clearly having taken Blyke's statement that he was "nobody" literally, the leader described Blyke's red hair and golden eyes. With both this account and the report detailing a "propulsion-type ability", it didn't take long for Blyke's friends to recognize Nobody. Remi stands up and says she's heading out. Blyke runs after her trying to explain himself while the confused Isen remains behind.

Blyke finally catches up to Remi and grabs ahold of her. Looking into her tear-soaked eyes, he makes an apology she doesn't immediately accept. Realizing where Blyke's injuries came from, she brings up the fact that it was him who said they fought as a team. After escaping Volcan, he was also the one who convinced her to stop chasing EMBER. The hypocrisy of the situation was incredibly painful. The remorseful Blyke admitted that he's felt useless ever since Joker single-handedly beat them all, so he sought to get stronger by any means possible. Remi asked if Blyke seriously considered that he might be killed while he was out "training" at night. She tearfully reminds him that her brother also did this in secret and lost his life. Not a day has gone by since then that she hasn't thought that Rei would still be alive if she had just caught on, if she had just been there alongside him. Repentant, Blyke says he never meant to make her mad. Remi makes it clear that she isn't angry, but scared, and hugs Blyke. She tells Blyke that she doesn't want to be slammed with another tragic loss. Blyke promises she won't. Isen catches up with them, angry about being stuck with the bill. After apologies are exchanged and Remi assures she's feeling better, Isen has a turn in chewing out Blyke for his late-night hobby. He repeats most of what Remi says, but he does not settle down as easy when Blyke swears not to do it again. Isen says it might do little good now that Blyke was caught on camera. He now was in danger of being tracked down by Volcan or EMBER. Blyke is confident that a small fry like him was beneath their notice. Remi only hopes that he's right.

The next day, Remi heads over to Safe House to relieve Arlo of his watch. She finds him reading, and he's surprised to see her arrive early for a change. Everyone else in the room greets Remi, who returns the gesture. She asks Arlo how it's gone so far. He answers that people tend to quietly behave in his presence, which she is less than enthused to hear. Arlo requests to speak to her outside for a moment. When they're alone, Arlo tells Remi about him contacting his aunt, who works for the Authorities. After finding out she was in the area, they arranged to meet up. Arlo extends an invitation to Remi to join him then.
