Plot[]
Blyke panics internally. What was supposed to be another training session has turned into a fight for survival against a crazy high-tier. He pulls himself together and begins formulating a battle plan. Knowing that Lennon could use his disks for both attack and defense, Blyke also realizes that he only seems able to generate five disks at once. With a slight boost in confidence, Blyke propels himself with his Energy Beams in order to evade Lennon's attacks. He learns that Lennon can make his disks change course, which keeps Blyke on the defensive. Blyke sees that Lennon, who doesn't need to move around much while using his ability, is smiling. Now angry at the smug bastard, Blyke dodges once more before firing twin beams at Lennon. Two of Lennon's protective disks manage to withstand the attacks, though he can discern the considerable power behind them. Meanwhile, Blyke figures that he would need time to charge up an attack powerful enough to break through the defenses of his opponent. Though sufficient time would be unlikely, Blyke believes he has figured out Lennon's attack pattern: he always kept at least two out of five disks close by for protection. Now with a plan, Blyke propels himself towards Lennon. He manages to dodge the three offensive disks and hurls two Energy Orbs directly at Lennon as a diversion before launching himself over him. While Lennon tries to figure out where he disappeared off to, Blyke descends from behind and charges up one big beam attack. Lennon barely manages to notice Blyke firing on him and swings his disks around to protect him.
A large blasts throws dust in the air and obscures Blyke's view. He wonders if his attack connected. Suddenly, a disks flies out of the dust and slices Blyke's arm. The injured Blyke propels himself backward just in time to avoid a second incoming disk. He realizes that his attack wasn't enough. Lennon, growing more irate by the minute, is now using one of his disks as a hover board while holding up the two defensive disks Blyke's beam managed to crack. He puts his all into an offensive barrage, forcing Blyke to take evasive action. Blyke realizes that he doesn't have the energy to continue dodging for much longer, and with one arm down he'll take even longer to charge up any attacks. Desperate for more time, Blyke launches three more diversionary blasts and slides under the hovering Lennon, who is beginning to catch on. Blyke fires a beam that throws another obscuring cloud of dust. As he's wondering whether he's beaten him, Blyke suddenly remembers that the townspeople mentioned something about Lennon having backup. He doesn't see anyone else nearby, but a green beam that Blyke narrowly avoids alerts him to the fact that Lennon has support from a sniper. Blyke also sees that Lennon himself is still not out of commission, and is forced to begin dodging again. Blyke starts to buckle under the physical strain this fight is putting him under. Though Lennon now has four cracked disks, his arrogance has not diminished. Now that Raddix was involved, his chances of killing this interloper were guaranteed. Blyke beats a tactical retreat, dodging the disks as he falls back. He spots a corner which he can go around to escape the sniper's range and look for a hiding place. Unfortunately, Raddix manages to hit Blyke in the torso despite his evasive maneuvers. Lennon delivers a lengthy, arrogant monologue about making Blyke pay for his interference before launching a lethal barrage. Blyke can do nothing but watch and curse his own inadequacy.
Suddenly, the pony-tailed man who had secretly watched Blyke in action at Newside lands wielding some form of energy sword. With this sword he intercepts one of the disks and shatters it. Blyke watches in shock and confusion as this masked stranger shatters two more oncoming disks. Blyke wonders who just saved his life.
