So you developed a more forgiving way to expend your energy?
- Seraphina speaks with Blyke about his ability
This is the 195th chapter of unORDINARY and the last chapter of the Safe House arc.
Plot[]
Zeke informs Blyke of the recent declaration of the king he was insulting: that all members of Safe House were to be designated as enemies of the school. Blyke proudly reveals himself to be the co-founder of Safe House, and is ready and willing to deal with all complaints against it. Despite being miffed to see that Blyke actually intends to defend Seraphina, Zeke feels good about his chances. Last he checked, Blyke's power level didn't surpass his own by much. The fact that he was acting in John's name made Zeke certain that the former Jack would chicken out altogether. Completely missing the fact that Blyke was more annoyed than intimidated by his overconfidence, Zeke activated his Phase Shift and began went on the attack. Blyke is surprised that Zeke would start a fight in the hallway. Zeke mocks his opponent's fighting skills, despite the fact that his own punches struck only air. He ignores Blyke's demands to cease and desist, claiming that his role in founding Safe House made him an even greater enemy than Seraphina. Blyke decides to end this fight before things got out of hand. He activates his ability and generates a powerful pulse that launches Zeke backwards into a wall. He then propels himself towards Zeke with two similar pulses and pins him against the wall. Blyke angrily lectures Zeke about how foolish it is to start a fight in a public hallway over something as trivial as a club and some fliers. He goes onto explain that the reason Safe House was started was because of all the destruction high-rankers caused due to not keeping their egos in check. The trust they lost couldn't be regained unless a haven was established for the students they endangered. Blyke finishes his speech by telling Zeke use his power for something constructive instead of showing off all the time. As the Safe House members turned to leave, Zeke just stood there for a moment. Blyke's words didn't sink in at all. If anything, his lecture about being careful for the sake of low-tiers made Zeke resent him more. Zeke rushed at the two for a sneak attack. Blyke noticed in time, and told Seraphina to brace herself. Before Zeke could touch him, Blyke generates a massive repulsion that flings his surprised would-be attacker backwards. Zeke is unable to believe just how powerful Blyke had become. Blyke tells the King's agent to give it a rest.
Seraphina and Blyke make their way to the infirmary. Seraphina drinks one of Darren's tonics, and thanks Blyke for the rescue. He regrets she needed rescuing at all, but she answers that she's gotten used to it. Blyke is disturbed that even Seraphina is a frequent victim of the school's problems, but she points out that she's a special case. Many students became eager a piece of her the minute they knew the goddess was vulnerable. It's been terrible, especially at the start, but she's grown accustomed to fending off jerks from time to time. Blyke remains angry that she has to put up with it at all, and hopes that with Safe House as a starting point they'll learn to find better resolutions all around. Seraphina is glad to hear these words. She asks Blyke about how he came up with the last move he used against Zeke. Blyke informs her that up until recently, he's only been able to focus his ability into a single destructive point of energy. He realized that such a lethal use of power would clash with the reassuring vibe they were trying to invoke around school. Seraphina asks if this inspired him to develop a gentler means of releasing energy, which he confirms. His new technique makes disarming people safer and easier than his old warning shots did, and makes for a great defensive technique as well. Seraphina congratulates Blyke on his new progressive methods, which he humbly accepts. Blyke leaves to check if any more fliers have been messed with. Now alone, Seraphina becomes somber once more. She finds herself wishing she had her ability back so she could contribute as well.
Late that night, Blyke gets ready to sneak out while Isen sleeps for another workout as a vigilante. His target this time would be Lennon, who was wanted for property damage and robbery in the Grasshill area. He vows to be more careful, as Lennon is stronger than his usual foes.
