Synopsis[]
By the time John and Seraphina leave the mall, it's already dark out. They check out the nearby bus stop and are discouraged by the crowd of commuters waiting. John proposes they cross the park to the nearest alternative. On the way, John gets a funny feeling that they're not alone, though he says nothing at first. Seraphina has a laugh over how John's big show at the booth ended with him crying for help. John didn't think it was funny how that man had to refund that lady over some dumb power difference. Seraphina ribs him and suggests he should have been more careful not to put himself at risk like that. He admits she's right, and asks if she's come up with a name for her new stuffed animal. She asks if he has one in mind, and he says "John" would be a good fit.
The awkward mood takes a serious turn when John suddenly looks over his shoulder. Seraphina sees nothing and asks what the problem is. John grabs her wrist and tells her they needed to get going. Seraphina follows his lead despite her confusion. They stop after turning a corner. Seraphina watches as John fishes out his new tacky shirt. When he tosses it forward, it stops in midair instead of falling to the ground. He's about to exclaim about how they're being shadowed by somebody invisible, but Seraphina has already sprung into action. She stops time and kicks the would-be stalker to the other side of the street. Seraphina gives John just enough time to finish his sentence before she tells him she doesn't want to stick around. He's all for getting back to fleeing.
