Channel Master is an unseen ability. It is implied to be a devastatingly powerful aura-related ability, much like Aura Manipulation, that allows its user to manipulate aura channels for users with high channel output.
Description
It is generally thought that Channel Master is a more advanced version of Aura Manipulation available when users attain an even higher level. All that has been confirmed is that the only way for a user to lose a battle is to willingly surrender.
Usage
- Ability Replication: Like Aura Manipulation before it, Channel Master can sample the auras of other abilities and mirror their properties.[1]
- Aura Reading: A passive shared with high-tier users of Aura Manipulation, Simon noted that Jane was capable of "finding him" even in her weakened condition.[2]
Strengths and Limitations
At Jane's level, a user of Channel Master was thought to be unstoppable. It's easy to believe, given that the considerably weaker John proved quite capable of overpowering a team of elite and high tiers in an uphill battle.
Yet despite what Cameron and William believed, not even the might to rival an army was totally indomitable. Jane did not have the confidence to single-handedly protect herself and the two cherished individuals from outside forces forever.
It has been established that the field of Conversion Technology is only possible thanks to this ability. It allows high-tiers to acquire more abilities to use in addition to their own, similar to what John does naturally. Of course, this could only be advantageous if those running the experiments are friends of the user. It appears that being a lab rat for nearly 20 years saps the fight out of even a level 9.1 Channel Master user. Jane does not seem able to break herself free even if she wanted to.
Arguably, the greatest weakness of even the strongest users of Channel Master is their own humanity, namely their capacity for love and its inherent vulnerabilities. Without it, they might truly be invincible...
Theories
Many readers believe that Jane surpasses John in terms of ability because she is capable of manipulating the auras of others without the need of Conversion Technology. Some of her theorized skills include being able to:
- Change the ability of themselves and/or others.
- Steal the abilities of others.
- Give additional abilities to others and/or themselves.
- Control the aura channels of a person's body, amping or dampening them at will.
Based on Cameron's usage of multiple abilities, a user of Channel Master can stop the flow of their aura for a period of time without immediately losing access to any abilities they copied.[3]
A throwaway line spoken by Cameron implies that users can manifest permanent attributes of other abilities, much like how John can now always rely on having enhanced strength when activating Aura Manipulation. In Cameron's case, he can heal damage inflicted on himself, at least enough to negate any physical damage his alcoholism causes.[4]
